What do those designations mean?

As real estate professionals, we are also proud members of organizations and holders of designations that help us keep abreast of our industry. All of these groups require additional education and adherence to codes of ethics, and we support their focus on professionalism.  If you are not familiar with some of these associations, you may want to know how they help us grow in knowledge, strive for the highest ethical standards, and better serve the needs of our clients and our communities:

THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS, "The Voice for Real Estate," is America's largest trade association.  Its one million members, including NAR's institutes, societies and councils, are involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries. Only those licensed real estate professionals who are members of this organization can call themselves Realtors. It is an advocate for professional service and continuing education, and helps to inform the public of why Realtors are essential to helping them realize their real estate dreams.

GRADUATE, REALTORS INSTITUTE (GRI) - This designation, held by our broker, is awarded by the National Association of Realtors as the mark of a real estate professional whose commitment to securing a strong educational foundation enhances his or her high level of professional services.  In a world of increasingly complicated real estate transactions and expanding technology, this designation encourages us to perform at an ever-growing level of professionalism.  It requires that a course of study be completed representing a wide body of knowledge for progressive real estate professionals; developing a solid foundation of knowledge and skills to navigate the current and changing real estate climate; acting with professionalism and being committed to serve clients and customers with the highest ethical standards. The designation is recognized nationally by anyone familiar with the industry.

COUNCIL OF RESIDENTIAL SPECIALISTS is the largest not-for-profit affiliate of the National Association of Realtors.  With nearly 30,000 members, CRS represents the most successful Realtors in the United States.  They provide outstanding continuing education, networking, practitioner-developed tools, and mentoring. They provide the CRS DESIGNATION (also held by our broker) to experienced agents who have completed advanced professional training and demonstrated outstanding professional achievement in residential real estate.  Of more than one million Realtors, less than 3% are Certified Residential Specialists.

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY MANAGERS is the professional, educational, and ethical leader for the residential property management industry.  It is the only national organization focused primarily on residential property management, and is committed to bringing the highest level of professionalism and ethics to the profession. Education is a fundamental component of the organization, and it has developed a core of extensive courses that are required to earn NARPM designations. NARPM Code of Ethics training is required as continuing education.  Currently, over 3800 individuals are members of NARPM in the US, Canada and across the globe. Memberships are available to unlicensed support staff and to affiliates that provide products and services to the industry, so that the organization's standards for effective and professional management can be understood by everyone involved in the process.  Our broker is a proud holder of the Residential Property Management Professional designation (RMP).

TEXAS REAL ESTATE COMMISSION is our state's regulatory agency for real estate brokers and salespersons, real estate inspectors, education providers for real estate and inspection courses, residential service companies, timeshare developers, and easement or right-of-way agents.  TREC exists to protect and serve the citizens of Texas with their programs of education, licensing and industry regulation to ensure that real estate service providers are honest, trustworthy and competent. They require that all brokers and salespersons meet and maintain specified levels of education to hold a license, and their enforcement services include investigating public complaints.  As licensees, all of our agents are members of this organization.

METROTEX ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS represents more than 14,000 real estate professionals involved in all aspects of the real estate industry, and is the area's largest Realtor association.  Metrotex is an advocate for the real estate industry, the real estate professional and private property rights.  It offers more than 500 programs each year to advance the professional development of real estate professionals, and provides affiliation with the area's Multiple Listing Services for its members.  Its mission is to provide products and services which help members succeed in their business in an ethical and professional manner.  All of our agents and staff are members of this organization.
